Parker Peevyhouse's Incredible
Launch Party
On Friday,
February 12th, we, the members of Hicklebee’s Teen Advisory Board (TAB), had
the honor of hosting local author, Parker Peevyhouse, for the launch of her
debut novel, Where Futures End. The book is about five teenagers who live in two
worlds and are divided by time. The book has gotten excellent reviews with 4.2
out of 5 stars on Goodreads. Her blend of sci-fi and fantasy creates a brilliant,
original story with lovable characters. Before the event kicked off, as a TAB
members we set up the bookstore, and as we were helping out, Parker Peevyhouse
stopped by to introduce herself to each and every one of us. She handed out
stickers with her book cover on them as well as cards with fortunes from the
book.
The event
kicked off with a wonderful introduction by one of our own TAB members, Mimi, in
which we learned a bit more about Parker Peevyhouse, who, in addition to
writing tutors and teaches K-8 students. We followed that introduction with a
lightning round of questions to learn quick facts about of author. (She prefers
tea over coffee for example.)
During
her presentation Peevyhouse showed us her scrapbook that had everything from
her original inspiration board, to the multiple rejection letters she received,
to the final editions of the cover. She also told us the backstory of the book
and how it came to be. The personal
level she brought to our event was refreshingly lovely. Afterwards, the
audience asked plenty of questions about her inspirations, writing routine, and
the publishing process. We kicked off the signing with a line that wrapped
around the whole bookstore. The event turnout was incredible. It was inspiring
to see all of Parker's friends, family, and fans come out to support her. We
look forward to what the future has in store for Parker Peevyhouse and we hope
that she comes back with another spectacularly original novel.

meantime, check out Hicklebee's upcoming events at
